I’ve got a view categorized by User Name I’m which I display with a form using an embedded view with the user’s name in the ‘Show single category’ box. This way each user sees only their documents.
I need to allow the user to navigate forward and back within their categorized view (seeing only their own docs no matter what they click) but when I create URL links with the commands @DbCommand(“Domino”; “ViewPreviousPage”) and @DbCommand(“Domino”; “ViewNextPage”) on the form, they are inactive. Nothing happens when they’re clicked. Oh, and the form is displayed in a frame.
Can this be done? If not using the Domino commands, then how?
I’ve searched but can’t find this exact problem. Thanks very much in advance.

Hi Alex,
I had this exact problem. Ended up having to use URL commands with RestrictToCategory to open the view, and then your @DbCommands will work. See the full thread:

Wow, thanks very much! The only thing I need to do is figure out how to put the user’s name in the URL when each user clicks.
To complicate things, the link is located in an Outline, so I have to put the calculated URL in an Outline entry.
is this still doable?
Thanks again.

Yep - just create your outline entry as URL and use something like this as your formula:
customer:=@NameLookup( [NoUpdate] ; @UserName; “CompanyName” );
DB:=@ReplaceSubstring(@ReplaceSubstring( @Subset( @DbName; - 1) ; " " ; “+” ) ; “\” ; “/” ) ;
path:=“/”+DB+“/”;
viewName:=“MyViewName”;
return:=path + viewName + “?OpenView”;
return:=@If(@UpperCase(customer)=“MYCOMPANYNAME”;return;return + “&RestrictToCategory=” + customer);
return
This picks up the Company Name of the user but you should easily be able to modify it to pick up the username instead. It’s also set up to show me all categories, but restricts the view for all other users.
Hope this helps!

Sorry, I figured out how to put the user’s name in the URL in the outline. What I can’t get to work now is using a View Template with this view. I don’t want the user to get the Expand, Collapse & Search link, which they do by default along with the Previous & Next links.
Should there be a problem using a view template with this method?
Thanks again.

Sorry - been a bit busy and haven’t managed to post back for a couple of days.
I use this method with view templates so there shouldn’t be any problem. If you’re still having problems, post your gode for generating the URL and maybe someone will be able to find it.
Emily.
