Embed search results on $$ReturnGeneralError?

I’m looking for suggestions or solutions for the following: I would like to display a “friendly” error form whenever a web error is encountered. I have already modified the appropriate form $$ReturnGeneralError. What I would like to do is to perform a search automatically within the $$ReturnGeneralError form and display the results when the page is initially rendered.

For example, a web user attempts to access a resource that (1) never existed or (2) existed at some point in time but has been moved. Say, the user typed in the following: http:…/somensf.nsf/specialties. That URI is not valid and we return the $$ReturnGeneralError form. I would like to, within the $$ReturnGeneralError form, execute a domain search such that the results of the search are present when the $$ReturnGeneralError is initially loaded. Thus, there would be a message indicating the “resource was not found, but we have performed a search for you and here are some possible results”. The results would have been obtained by performing a domain search query looking for specialties.

Any ideas on how to run and load the results of a domain search in the form $$ReturnGeneralError whenever a 404 or similar error?

thnx,

The problem is that unless things have changed recently forms such as $$ReturnGeneralError can’t run WebQueryOpen agents.

I would suggest tagging your message on to a custom domain search results form (in catalog.nsf) and then simply doing a URL redirect in the $$ReturnGeneralError to carry out a domain search!
