I have a new pc with 3gb of ram and now I’m able to use the full R8.01 eclipse based client. Everything is fine except that opening new mail sometimes takes up to 5 or more seconds before the body/contents of the email appears.
Any clues why or how to fix this ‘bug’?

… also, try to ascertain is it a client or server problem… e.g. are you opening a local replica… if you are opening from the server then test opening the same mail from other machines…

It’s not a server problem - using the ‘basic’ client config works fine. I don’t have any FTI’s either on my mail file and it doesn’t always happen for every email. Seems to occur only if there is a hyperink or any embedded images in the email.

But I have no idea what my correspondents are using. The problem is with the eclipse client.
Subject: there are known issues with the release version of IE8
and the eclipse client. Since Notes 8.0.X and 8.5.0 uses the IE control for rendering things like email and sametime chats, the new IE 8 causes issues. IE8 is not supported with Notes yet - so this could be the slowness problem they are seeing. Only way to fix it right now is to uninstalled IE 8 and go back to IE 7
