Email Error 553 Mailbox name not allowed or chunk too large

My boss has a customer that can not send him an email. It is my problem…simply because they are the customer and they do not want to deal with it. We get emails from other persons from their domain so I know my firewall is not blocking them. I checked my domino email logs and I do not see any records of it being denied.

This person has an apostrophy in their name O’ConnerK@acme.com

I have a WatchGaurd 700 Firewall and a Barracuda Spam Blocker in front of my Domino Server if that means anything.

Thanks for any help. Cheers.

Probably sending it with a quoted “common name” eg 'Ken’O’ConnerK@acme I suggest you allow the name as an alias without the apostophe and ask to resend it.

Error 553 is something that happens before you as manager of the receiving mail server get a chance to do anything as it is part of the mail protocol.
