Email documents that have been Read appear later as 'Unread'?

Hello all,

We have a user reporting that after she has read some of her emails, they will return to an ‘Unread’ status, even if she has opened them up repeatedly. What might be causing this, and what can I do to remedy the situation?

I have noticed this at our site as well - I know sometimes its because of the clustered servers - when the mailbox is opened on another server it appears as unread - but I have noticed with some users - unsure why - but on occasion - their mailbox just shows that there are all these unread documents…Not sure what is causing it!

We’ve been able to attribute some of this to the new client and message preview.

Some of our users turn on their preview (we went from R4 to R6 and the preview was harder for them to toggle) and reply to messages without clicking on them to open them first. Then later they go back to their inbox and think the message should be marked as “unread”… its a toggle you can select under Additional Options in user prefs.
