Email delivered to wrong user

We have a user when he submits a email to multiple people, the email gets sent to the wrong person. This does not happen when its two internal users. This only happens when one email is internal and the other is an internet email address. This only happens to two people that he sends emails to in the company. Anyone else he sends a email to internally that includes an outside email address is ok. He has quite a bit of entries in his local address book. The person document looks fine.

user —> user1 (internal) + user2 (outside) ----> user 1 email gets routed to a different user internally but outside email is ok

user —> user1 (internal) + user2 (internal) ----> email ok

Not sure where else I should look or if anyone has information regarding any known issue relating to too many entries in the local address book.

Thanks.

Charlie,

Is the user sending to a group address? If the user is sending to a group address, check their local address book as they may have the group in there with the incorrect email address. Just a thought.

Mike.

Mike,

Thanks for your reply but the user is not using a group email account.

The user has group emails setup with the internal users in the LAB. But when I submitted a test email not using the group account, but using the specific person, the email was sent to someone else’s email account internally.

If this person’s name resides in the personal address book of the sender, open the individual’s record and then the Advanced tab. Make sure the only name that resides in the name field is his and not someone else’s. When I’ve seen this in the past, the incorrect recipient’s name was included with the correct person’s name. Removing it resolved the problem.

I did a some investigation and found out the user had two local address book. One belongs to him and the other which only allow to search and I believe this local address book is there by default when the client is install. I did a search on the second address book with my name. It pick up my name but with someone else’s email address. I did a search on other users in the company and the same email address popup.

For example, I search John Doe and sam@abc.com is attached to John Doe name. If I do another search, for example Jane Doe, same sam@abc.com email address is attached to Jane Doe.

Not sure what this address book is for. maybe LDAP? only internal users are being pick up when I do a search.
