Eliminating the "/Domain" on outgoing e-mail addresses

Does anyone know if there’s an easy way to eliminate the “/Domain Name” from outgoing e-mail addresses?

Specifically what we have is a series of agents using @MailSend() and the resulting e-mails appear to come from “DomServer/DomDomain@MyDomain.com”

We need to eliminate the “/DomDomain” from the e-mail addresses. I know we can do something with Lotusscript agents but was hoping that there’s some administration setting (on a Dom 6.x server) that would tell the SMTP process to not include the Domain name.

TIA

Open your public address book and select ‘Configuration → Messaging → Domains’. Make sure you have a Global Domain document configured for your domain and if not, create it.

You can specify how you’d like your outgoing email addresses to be formated in the ‘Conversions’ section of the Global Domain document.

You should also open the server configuration document (Configuration → Servers → Configurations) and look at the ‘MIME → Advanced → Advanced Outbound Message Options’ for additional conversion options for outgoing mail.

Thanks Alex, I’ll check that out.

And particularly thanks for such detailed instructions (they’ll save me tonnes of time looking up the info in the Admin Help Docs).

Alex thanks for the tip, however I’m still having the same problem.I can modify parts of the from address of the server but still get the “/” in it:

Dom001/Name@MyDomain.com

It looks like “Name” is taken from the domain of the server

Any additional suggestions?

Thanks

Mike, Sign the agent with a user ID. The Server ID (or a server ID) has signed this agent.

In the Global Domain document you created what do your settings look like?

Check the following:

  • Local part formed from - set this to Common Name or Shortname.

  • Domino domain(s) included - set this to None.

  • What does the Address Example look like?

Restart the Router & SMTP tasks (or even the server) after making the configuration changes)

Also as Shawn suggested you could try signing the agent with a User ID and I think then the email address is taken from the InternetAddress field of the person document.

Thanks Alex, unfortunately that doesn’t seem to have worked either… :frowning:

Here’s what I have in my global domain document

Local primary Internet domain: MyDomain.com

Alternate Internet domain aliases: YourDomain.com

Internet address lookup: Enabled

Local part formed from: Short Name

Domino domain(s) included: None

Domino domain(s) position: Left of ‘@’

Domino domain separator: % - percent sign

Address example: JMD@acme.com

The agent IS signed by a user (Me)

eMails appear to come from

Dom001/Gal01@MyDomain.com

Any other suggestions? I’m currently considering installing an Apache James e-mail server and writing mailets for that to take and act as a secondary router to convert all outgoing e-mail addresses but that’s a ROYAL pain and to be honest I don’t think I should have to do something like that (well at least I’m HOPING I don’t have to do that )

Thanks in advance …

I know this is an older thread but I have had the same problem without resolution until I went to the server Configuration doc → MIME → Conversion Options → Outbound and enabled the “Lookup Internet address…” and “Perform exhaustive lookups…”
