If a Person encrypts the Archive Database locally and then he forgets the password of ID File. Archive size is 5 GB. Can a domino admin opens the Archive DB locally by using Domino Admins ID File.
I tried but iam getting “your database has local access protection”.

What is the role of a Lotus Admin here. Lotus admins needs will be having access to encypt and decrypt who ever ID FIle. or there is no point in having a DOmino Admin key word
Subject: Encryption
The local database is encrypted with the private key of the notes id. The only chance to get access to the database is to remember the password. May be there an older id file with another password saved by the admin when creating the user. Good luck
Subject: Re: Encryption
Hi Jinoy,
Ralf is correct. The only was to Open an Encrypted Notes Database is by using the ID File the Encrypted it. If you forgot the password, Ralf’s suggestion is best. However, if you cannot remember the password, then I do not believe you can get it back. I believe there may be password or ID recovery out there, but that would have needed to be configured prior to this occurring.
Overall, that database cannot be opened without that ID. As far as I know, Notes Database Encryption is near “unhackable” as well so I am unsure of any way to get into that database without the ID and password.
Good luck Jinoy.

-Bob
Subject: Sorry, local database encryption uses strong crypto
You’ll need to regain access to that ID file in order to decrypt the data. If you don’t have ID File Recovery configured (or the Notes ID vault in 8.5+), your only recourse will be to attempt to guess the correct password.
