I have complained about Eclipse 8.5.1.
I will make this suggestion and complaint brief.
The Eclipse 8.5.1 Client, Designer and Administrator SUCK!
Someone at IBM should take a hard look at this product and make some changes.
Operative word to describe 8.5.1 is SLOW!
Not ready for Prime Time!
I have worked with Lotus Notes for 12 years and I am very disappointed.
Suggestion: Fix It!
Subject: I agree
While I can understand the move to Eclipse-based Designer, I have to agree with Stan.
Designer 8.5.1 is just full of bugs!
I didn’t work with 8.5 cause I knew there would be some bugs, but I really thought that 8.5.1 would be more stable.
I just posted this:
http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd85forum.nsf/DateAllThreadedWeb/15a4fb9c4a6ac855852577700043e1b0?OpenDocument
Sure I do my best to report bugs and open PMR, but I now have found 9 bugs! And I’ve just worked with Web Services and Script Library so far! No XPages, Forms, Views, Agents at all!
I’m not even talking about weird UI design, slow down and crashes!
I just don’t have the time to report everything to IBM. I’m working on a priority project and instead of going forward with this project, I’ve spent the last two weeks fighting with my Eclipse designer.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Eclipse. I use the “real” Eclipse for all my Java development, but the Designer 8.5.1 was just not ready for “Prime Time” as Stan suggested.
Hopefully, 8.5.2 will improve it.
Thanks
Subject: If you don’t report them we can’t fix them.
Not everyones environment the same. Ultimately we would love it if no one had any issues with the client.
But continually posting about how the client is crashing week after week with no details to work with is not constructive. It certainly isn’t going to stop it crashing.
Also it runs the risk of people ignoring your future posts rather then helping (which I would prefer not to do).
So please help us help you.
Subject: I report them
Simon,
I’m not complaining every week about how the client is crashing… Sure, It’s frustrating that the Designer is slow and crashes often, but I complained once about bugs in basic functionalities, like Web Services and Script Library in Java.
Actually, I was asking if other were having those kind of bugs to see If I was the only one.
I’m trying my best to report every bug to Lotus Support. I opened three PMRs last week. Hopefully, some of them will be solved in 8.5.2.
I just can’t take weeks to report every possible bugs to Lotus as I have my job to do. I can live with occasional crashes, but with bugs in basic fonctionalities, that’s frustrating.
I didn’t want to offend anybody and I appreciate you took the time to answer me.
