ECL Problems

Hi,We are deploying Lotus Notes client 6.5.3 for our client using script logic manager for almost 35000 clients. We have customized bookmark.nsf and the design changes have been signed by a authorised id, which full access on all the domino servers.

What is happening…when ever the client is launched first time, users are geting security alerts about launching a applet and running other progarms. User need to trust the signer then only he can avoid the security alerts popping up next time the client is launched.

I would like to know where excatly these ECL setting have been stored? How can i make sure a particular signer will have all the access on Workstation ECL? Is there any possibility we can provide a customised ECL while deploying Notes client? if yes how to do it.?

Thanks.

Cheers

Sri.

Hi Venkata,

The ECL is stored in every user.id file.

The default ECL is stored in the Domino Direvtory.

When you first install a user, the client should create sa new ECL based on the server.

IF I understand right, you are installing the clients, so I understand you server’s ECL is not OK.

Open you directory adn choose on the menu: ACTIONS - EDIT ADMINISTRATION ECL.

Now to fix the problem with users already installed, you can send a button with @RefreshECL formula on it.

Another option is add to POSTOPEN for mailfiles a lotuscript to refresh ECL, and sign it with server id to avoid security alerts.

Look into ECL policies. They allow you to deploy different ECLs which was impossible in earlier versions.

An additional item to check is if your servers are included in the ECL. You cannot use groups from the NAB (so no LocalDomainServers) but you can use wildcards if your servers have a different OU.

Another new feature is - which auto translates into the name of each individual user when pushed to the client. This is especially helpful if you do not want users to modify the ECL. This one took a call to Lotus Support for me to discover.

Good luck!

Hello,You can set the ECL by using a policy. After the installation, the policy update the ECL. For info, in the past I have found the ECL is stored in the names.nsf.

Best regards.

Hi,

ECL was stored in names.nsf in previous versions.

Since release 6 ECL is stored in ID file.
