Easysync pro taking hours to sync calendar

Using Easysync Pro from ISSI with Treo 650 (Palm). Just installed palm desktop, then easysync pro. Hit the problem with ISSI install, so found the solution to that (deferred install, etc) and got conduit finally installed. Doing first synch and hit the slowdown. Synch of first 550 calendar entries went very fast, then it went into a slow crawl. It ran for over 3 hours to synch the calendar before it completed. Ran synch again, and it hit the slow crawl at 383 records. No calendar changes have been made.I anticipate that it will take hours to complete the current sync. Hopefully someone can help me with this issue!?!

Ok, I have tried a few things that seem to fixed this issue. I ran the sync last night and noticed that it died as soon as I disconnected from the IBM network (via VPN). So this morning, I ensured that all of my data sources for Lotus Notes in the EasySync profile point to local copies. You will need to ensure that ToDos, Calendar, and Mail all point to the local copy of your .nsf file. The same is true for contacts or it will try and connect to the server copy. If you are on the IBM network, it will work but will be really sloooooowwww… In your case, I am wondering if you had some of your data sources pointing to local copies (hence running quickly) and some pointing to server based copies (running slowly).Hope this helps. I am now moving onto working with Bluetooth so stay tuned for more posts!

I’ve experienced the same behaviour when synchronizing with remote sources with the current version 4.2.4 but also previous versions, which is why I am synchronizing with local replicas only.

It is almost as if for each document a new connection to the server has to be setup or something. (something I haven’t made time to investigate actually since working from local replicas fixed the slow sync problem for me).

Using Bluetooth to synchronize my disorganiser with local replicas of my mailfile, and journal works fine for me

I am having the same issue except that it has been slow from the start. It has sync’ed approx. 650 records in 2 hours. I am not sure why it is taking so long. The worst part is that when I abort it , I lose all updates and have to start from scratch. You would think it would be fast when doing a straight replace to the PalmOS calendar from Notes. I will continue to investigate with developerWorks. Let me know if you come up with any insights. I will likely let my sync run overnight to see how long it will finish.

I first switched to Island mode in Notes before Synchronization. It becomes a lot faster (finish in a few minutes, instead of a couple of hours)

  1. shutdown EasySync

  2. Change Notes to Island mode

  3. restart EasySync and start sync’ing

My understanding is that EasySync Pro reads the notes.ini file for the current profile. Switching the current profile will change the entry to point to the local database.

Please try out and verify my assumption.
