Years ago I went nuts over Dynamic tables… they’re great. The one problem I wasn’t able to solve tho… is if one value (field1) is longer than the value in field2. Then they values don’t display next to each other correctly…
Has anyone solved this?

Subject: Dynamic Tables - Multi-line values not aligning… anyone solve this?
Ruth,
I am not sure I am understanding what you are saying, but have had all sorts of problems with multivalue field alignment (especially if say I want position 2 in field2 to be Null but still align with position 2 in field1.
the way I have found to get around this is to greate a hidden multivalue field where I concatenate the values of my table fields in one field.
so for example my hidden field stores the data like this
field1val1#field2val1
field1val2#NULL
field1val3#field2val3
i then make my multivalue fields in the table computed or computed for display and extract the substrings using @Word, @Left, @Right, @Rightback and so on.
It has worked like a charm, and my multivalue fields no longer get out of sync, because the hidden field always associates the right values based on the position of the substring in the main string, using the delimiter to extract it.
does that make sense? is it helpful at all?

Subject: Dynamic Tables - Multi-line values not aligning… anyone solve this?
I too love dynamic tables…
Last year I wrote an article for the view… The link is below… It has a sample db… It uses the new classes for notesrichtextnavigator…It actually draws the table as you need it in a richtext field.
After writing this article, I started messing around w/HTML in a notes client form… Love it…
So, now I don’t use the method listed below, I have a computed text field that is passthru html.
I use a @For loop to loop through all the info that I store in those multivalue fields, and then I write them to a HTML table, w/the @For, I can add a new row for each value in the multivalue field. Sweet…
here is example of that:
Title for StatusPerson@For(i := 1;i <= @Elements(wfTitle);
above is just written on the form and set to pass thru…
below is in a computed text formula that I have set to pass thru…
i := i + 1;
HTML := HTML + “
”;HTML := HTML + “
”;HTML := HTML + “
”;HTML := HTML + “
”;HTML := HTML + “
”;HTML := HTML + “
”;HTML := HTML + “
”);html
End of computed text
Then on the form i just write the end table tag as so and make sure it is set to pass thru as well…
| Action | WorkDoc | Rework? | Notify if Denied | ||
| ” + wfTitle[i] + “ | ” + wfpersonCN[i] + “ | ” + wfAction[i] + “ | ” + workDoc[i] + “ | ” + submitforrework[i] + “ | ” + NIDwComma[i] + “ |
It is sweeeeeet… and I like it better than how I did in my article… Simplier…
but the example in the article is cool, and is all native lotus script…
Subject: Dynamic Tables - Can multiple be appended???
Is it possible to append more than one table into a richtext field?
Subject: RE: Dynamic Tables - Multi-line values not aligning… anyone solve this?
Or even just use the fact that @Formula language acts on multi-value lists and use something like:
row := “” + column1 + “” + column2 + … + “”;
“
” + @implode(row) + “</table”regards,
