Hi All,
I see one problem in DXLImport. It takes large amount of time to import large mails. I tried a mail with 6 MB and it took around 1 minute time.I have written a function in C using Lotus Notes C API for importing the mail and i am using the function DXLImport(). Is there anyway in which i can reduce the amount of time(optimization).
Thanks in advance

Hi Ram,since you are on the C level already…
DXLImport transforms an XML structure to the Notes structure. Since the Notes DTD is quite complex that takes it’s time. SO you might want to parse your incomeing XML using a Sax parser and create the note elements manually.
However I would suggest a cross check:
With 6MB I would guess you have an attachment. How long does it take to create that attachment in the client (manually) or with LotusScript. Your problem might not be related to DXLImport but the network thruput or the server performance.

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the prompt reply first of all. the mail does have an attachment and with lotus notes client it takes 11-12 seconds only,so i think it is a problem with DXLImport only. The idea of parsing the incoming XML looks like an interesting one and i would give a try for this.
Thanks Stephen…Meanwhile if some body could give alternate suggestions it would be of help because i can try all the steps.
Thanks

Hi Ram,you could consider importing the messages without the attachments and then use LotusScript to create them. Try if this is faster
