DXL extension troubles

This isn’t so much a problem as much as it is a “I’m clueless” step… I’m working on a project where we use EDD tools to convert many various native files to .tif (or .tiff to some). Right now, I have ended up on a job with about 150MB in .DXL files and only the faintest of ideas.

Now, I’ve googled and ask.com’ed just about everything I could think of but my ultimate goal is to get these .DXL’s converted to .tif in a manner that they don’t display the RAW XML but rather, an image that looks similar to the output of an outlook [ Formatted, grouped To: From: etc ]. One of my ex-coworkers was at some point (I believe) able to have the Lotus Notes application associate the .dxl filetype because the way our data discovery software works is it will instance the associated application, open the file and try to print it through its own special print driver (which then converts to tif). I don’t believe there to be an easy way out, but I need to find a way so any opinions are welcome. I tried to research on my own but I need some help. Thanks in advance.

Chris.
