opened a mail file with the dwa_ulite on my iphone and it is not good at all, not even usable. Pages formatted to wrong size, ugly buttons running over text, cant access contacts from an email, and cant add contacts or calendar entries.
Am i missing something? Any setting or configurations i need to make?
Subject: do you have all the pieces?
you need an 8.5 server and a 8.5 mail file …
Subject: yes, more detail of my observations
I thought maybe it would have a contact selector, or group selector in a new email. For example in the iPhones mail client there is a plus sign in the to field that if pressed takes you to a contact list page, then once selected back to the email.
The formatting(page size) is a bit rough on the iphone as well.
On iPhone apps like the mail client there are 3 frames, the top nav, the content in the middle, and the bottom nav. The content frame is what scrolls, the other two are a fixed size and always showing and never move off of the screen.
I guess adding calendar entries and contacts is coming in another beta. Can you accept invites? Will they add n entry to your iphone calendar?
Features that would be helpfull
-
Ability to see all mail folders and to search them.
-
the option for the ui-light spell checker in an email.
-
the option to choose iphone contacts to email from or add to inotes contacts.
-
Add contacts from your contact list to the iphone contacts.
-
File mail in Folders, delete mail
Check out the gmail interface for the iphone very slick, very well done
Subject: thanks for the detailed feedback…
…its exactly the kind of input we’re looking for.
The initial release of ultralite mode has had to stay focused upon providing access to the most important data and critical functions. Our goal is to enable users to view their e-Mail, Calendar and Contacts, compose and reply to messages, create/edit new Contacts and perform some Inbox management. Many of the features you’ve listed were considered for this release but did not make it in due to schedule constraints. We’re looking for input from you all on which ones are most important and how best to prioritize them. If you had to order the items you listed in your post, how would you rank them? Which would be the top three you’d like to see in a future release?
A lot of progress has been made with ultralite since its inclusion into this Beta. The layout has been cleaned up, features have been fleshed out and the UI design has been polished to fit better into the iPhone environment. The decision to go with a full page rather than fixed top and bottom regions was made to optimize space and because the iPhone doesn’t show scrollbars for frames containing overflowed content until you are actually touching the subframe.
Below are a couple of screenshots of our current Home page and Inbox view (taken in a desktop browser).

Subject: Love the new screen shots, here is how i would rank them
-
Select the to in the email instead of typing address, google has a good implementation of this with check boxes to select multiple contacts at once.
-
Ability to see all mail folders and to search them. If you can search the all documents folder that would be a great start, or maybe sort then search?
-
File mail in Folders, delete an email
These may require the sdk, but would be a great thing since there is not a good way to do this yet.
-
The option to choose iphone contacts to email to or add to inotes contacts.
-
Add contacts from your contact list to the iphone contacts.
-
Sync Calendar items create alarms from inotes to device and vice versa?
A dream really since i have not seen a spell checker in any iphone app. And i cant spell! pleese!!
- the option for the ui-light spell checker in an email.
Thanks for listening, after i posted i realized it wasn’t as bad as i originally thought. I am used to using the built in mail client(imap) which has some pretty rich features. And i do realize it is a work in progress. Thanks again for developing for this platform.
