I have a client who cannot create new mails nor forward or reply mails when using DWA/Inotes. The Forward and Reply buttons are missing, and when clicking on the “NEW” button, the only option available is to create a new folder. This happens on both IE and Firefox. I’ve also changed his mail template multiple times, even to different versions including iNotes 6 and iNotes 7 templates.
His Notes client can reply and forward mails fine however. He has been using the mail file for quite a few years but the problem only happened recently.

It is because the interface believes it is an archive database. And in archive db, all is disabled (technote 1294665, starting with mail templates releases 6.5.6, 7.0.3 and 8.0).
It may happens because one time you archived back to your main database, and some flag is still there from that time.
Anyway, I am quite proud to have found by myself where it was hidden : in the profile doc named “archive database profile”.
With NotesPeek, I found out this profile, and got his NoteID. Then, with a lotusscript of my own, I have deleted the doc.
Then, a simple refresh in the browser triggered the right displaying.
Now I find that IBM are advicing the same :
