DWA attachments can't be opened

When a someone uses DWA and creats an e-mail with an attachment and then trys to open the attachment from DWA it fails with page can not be displayed. The same attachment if attached via the notes client will open via DWA. Any ideas. I have turned off compression (lotus said to) that did not help. It does not matter if I go thru the proxy or straight to the server. The server is running IIS. COuld it be some setting there ?

I’ve noticed this as well – it’s not so much that the page can’t be displayed, but that the browser doesn’t know what to use to open the attachment. A UI attachment via Notes includes the program icon, and likely some other meta-information about the attached file in the Rich Text link pointer. Attachments created via a normal file upload control don’t have the same information, so it depends on the file associations set on the users’ machines (which extensions use which programs).

same here. The one created via DWA when viewed withw notes client show as a generic icon but when launched, launch the correct application. I created two messages from my PC one with the client and one with DWA. I can open both via DWA and the icons show correctly for the application they we associated with. It is only the one created with the notes client when viewed with the notes client that has the correct icons.

That’s to be expected, since it a function of the OS UI as much as it is of Notes. The “which program to use” is up to the users to set. In most cases, it would be preferable to right-click and download rather than open the attachment into the browser anyway…
