I have about 250 folders and sub-folders in my Notes mail client. I wished to change the structure of these to make more business sense, moving some under others. When I have done this however, the next time I open Notes I see duplicate folders created.
For example, I want to move Folder A under Folder B. I am able to do this, but the next time I open Notes I have two copies of Folder A, the first one containing the mails in that folder, the second one appearing like a “dummy” folder but with Folder B below it.
Two things complicate matters:
-
Due to a limitation in the size of my Notes mail client, I am forced to archive heavily. I want to retain the folder and mail structure in my Inbox to help direct me when I look at the archive. Both the Inbox and Archive folder structures are now corrupted.
-
The folder names are also now often corrupt e.g. “Folder A” now appears as “FolderAr A”. I can’t easily delete these and recreate without having to identify where the mails in each folder should go. I have literally thousands of mails in my Inbox and do not wish to have to move these into folders again by examining each one.
I have tried File-> Application-> Replace Design and selected “Mail(R8)” then checking the option “Upgrade Folder Design”. After running for an age however, this made absolutely no difference to the structure.
Is there any way I can get Notes to remove the duplicates? My Inbox is now in a pretty much unusable state of disorganisation as a result of the unnecessary duplicate folders.
