Duplicate names in address book

Two questions:1. Why do I get duplicates or triplicates of addresses in my local mail address book? Today, I went from one record to three records for each contact document in my address book, for no apparent reason.

  1. How do I search for and delete duplicate addresses efficiently? Every time this happens, I have to laboriously delete duplicates one at a time.

Subject: syncing from mailfile?

Are you synching with the contacts in your mail file?

If so, and you are making new copies of your names.nsf file - I think it would see all as different document IDs and add the others back in as new documents when you sync.
