Receiving internet pop3 mail has worked for quite a while with no problem. Recently I began getting duplicate mail everytime the mail was retrieved. The mail id does not change… the mail is simply pulled in again…have upgraded to 8.5.2 but still have the problem. It is as though it has no way of knowing what was previously retrieved so it pulls in all mail from the pop3 account inbox… HELP!

I uninstalled and reinstalled Notes and had the same problem. I ended up deleting the mail file replica and recreating it from the server… that seems to have fixed the problem but no idea what caused it.

There are several issues that might cause this and AV scanning is one of them. Have you checked that this is not the case?
Subject: I can’t remember for sure, but it might be related to unread marks.
If an email gets marked unread, I think it comes down again.
