Duplicate e-mail addresses inserted from NAB

When selecting a name from his addressbook, one of our users encounters several different names that insert twice.

For example, entering Betty in the to field results in a dialog appearing containing all matches with the name of Betty. Selecting one specific entry results in the e-mail address being listed twice in the to field. This doesn’t occur with all names, only a few.

Does anyone have any suggestions? The names are being inserted from the local NAB, not the server NAB.

Did you have a look at the fullname field of the person in the local NAB?

I understand Notes’ Contact is a pain . When you select a contact from Contact, Notes can’t differentiate one name from another. The program should need a “pointer”, which points to the email address of a contact you select.[pseudo-code for Lotus Developemnt Team] :slight_smile:

Suggestions:

  1. Tell your user use Full name, “Betty Smith”, for instance instead of “Betty” when they create a contact.

  2. If Betty Smith already exists, go to the Advanced tab in the Contact and make sure it’s listed as “Betty Smith” (without a comma) not “Smith, Betty”. Why?

When Smith, Betty is inserted in the To: field, Notes will treat it as two (2) peoples/addressees instead of just one. Therefore, it’ll look up in the Contact for all Betty(s) and Smith(s). If it found more than one Betty and Smith, it would display the dialog mentioned. As one of my user puts it, this is “stupid” because he actually selected the name from the Contact, Notes should know which one he wants to send the e-mail to. :slight_smile:

Tip: When a user has problem with Contact, look in the Advanced tab. It’ll give you clue.
