Without question the dumbest most useless feature of Notes 8.5 is the Recent Contacts list in the Address Book. What an annoying contribution to Bloatware. How can you delete entries which appear in the Recent Contacts list? You are apparently not allowed to.
How can the annoying Recent Contacts feature be turned OFF?
…Select File > Preferences, and click on the Contacts section.
Select the check box next to “Do not automatically add contacts to the Recent Contacts view.”
I hate it too, but that’s because as a freelance admin/developer I use lots of different ids and support lots of mail users and so lots of irreleant email addresses find their way into my Recent Contacts.
Although irritating for a number of reasons the recent contacts “feature” (which came out in 8.0) can be disabled through your preferences. You can also remove particular entries from your personal addressbook, recent contacts view. I believe in 8.5 you can customize desktop policies to disable it.
My initial reaction when this first came out in Beta in early 8.0 daily builds was not very positive at all… Now, a few years and many iterations later, it really does work pretty well for me…My type-ahead when creating memo’s is blazing fast… I still grant you there are a few issues to work out but I would recommend you give this feature some time and you’ll see how effective it can be…
I’ll be glad to pass along any feedback to developer of this feature once you read the FAQ
