Dumb Linux Question

I’m trying to set up my first Domino Server on RedHat 7.3.

I followed the detailed instructions in the IBM Redbook, and everything seemed to work fine (i.e. the Server loads, to include the HTTP service, I’m able to access it with both the Admin Client and the regular Notes Client)

But when I try to access it using a web browser (ie 5.5) by typing in the IP address, I cannot get to it…When trying to, I get DNS errors, or the “We cannot find xxx.xxx.xxx.xx”.

I’ve modified the Hosts file on both the client and Server computers to include the IP address and Name of the Server. I’ve also modified the Host.Allow file on the Linux box.

Looking at the Port Tab on the Server document for the Linux box, I see that though there is a TCPIP port listed, but no Protocol is listed for Notes Network Port. Could this be the problem? If so, how do I add that protocol to the Linux box?

TIA

You certainly need to ensure the TCPIP port is enabled on the server (ports tab in the server doc).

Is the Domino HTTP tasks running?

Thanks for the response:

  1. There are No errors displayed on the Server Console.

  2. The HTTP task is running without any errors.

  3. The “Internet Port” tab on the Server Document–The Web Tab has the TCPIP port enabled.

Subject: RE: Dumb Linux Question

I found that the problem was due to the “ipchains” was enabled within the Linux OS.

Once that was “deselected”, I was able to access the HTTP process without any problems.

just a case of a Linux Newbie not knowing what to look for.

You haven’t disabled IPChains completely, have you?
