DST Win2000 WebMail client

I noticed the following qwerk for Windows2000 users viewing their WebMail.

All DST patches were applied to the server. All agents were run on the user mail files.

All DST patches were applied to the user’s Win2000 and WinXP machines.

Samantha views her calendar on:

OK = Lotus Notes 7.0.2, WindowsXP

OK = MSIE, WindowsXP

OK = Lotus Notes 7.0.2, Windows2000

INCORRECT = MSIE, Windows2000

To correct the problem seen on the Windows2000 PC:

  • close MSIE

  • open the Windows Clock

  • select the Time Zone tab

  • use the select box, and choose a different time zone

  • then select your original time zone

  • click OK

  • you do not need to reboot

Open WebMail again in MSIE. The calendar is correct.

Based on the corrective action taken, it sounds like the in memory rules that the browser referenced were not updated. Guess that the key not being read properly by IE is

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation]

But it’s a very good note to document and similar to notes in technote 21245334 Lotus software: Daylight Saving Time (DST) changes for 2007 will affect Lotus software products
