Let’s say that I have users who are starting with the company after March 11th. Assume that the new users are running either the R6.5.5 or the R7 client.
Does the Notes client obtain the DST information from the OS?
If the OS has been patched, I don’t need to do anything? Is that right?
What if the OS has not been patched? Do I need to run the DST agent on the new mail databases created after the 11th?
If everything else has been done, when you create the mail files it should pick up the timezone from the server. If you are using an old PC that has not had the OS updated, then you could have a problem.
The agent only applies changes to those entries that are dated between 3/11 and 3/30 and in November that had already been created before the changes. So, a new person would not have any.
Does the Notes client obtain the DST information from the OS? Yes, beginning at R6
If the OS has been patched, I don’t need to do anything? Is that right? It shoudl be ok
What if the OS has not been patched? Do I need to run the DST agent on the new mail databases created after the 11th?Yes because 'Wrong" entries could have been created by your new user
One more thing to keep in mind… The greatest impact will probably be for the earlier beginning of DST because it is almost upon us and it’s likely that meetings were created for those “new” times. But DST is also extended later in the fall, so there may be some issues with entries created for those new DST dates as well. Running the DST “fix” agent should address those, but I think you’ll want to be sure that you run the agent after all PC’s OSs have been patched.
