Drag/Drop of picture screws up rich text field

This is odd.

I paste in some rich text into a rich text field (using Discussion Template 8.0).

Then I go to a web page (the same one where I got the text) and drag/drop a picture from Safari to Notes. It appears to work, except for the Notes field mark:

But then I save & close the document and the text is gone:

PRIOR to the Save & Close, I was able to select and style the text. Very strange.

The Document Properties show the body has 13K bytes, but they just aren’t there:

Subject: More testing on this

The behavior is consistent when using the Discussion template (it fails) vs. the Mail 8.5 template (it also fails).

BUT, in the Mail 8.5 template, you don’t have the field markers to give you a clue that the problem is occurring.
