Drag & Drop Attachment to Email Stopped Working

First, your popup menus for submitting a topic need to be updated. I’m on Mac OS X 10.6.8, Notes Client 8.5.2FP3.

It seems that around the time I upgraded to FP3, I lost the ability to drag and drop a file from my desktop into a new email. I get the “NO!” icon instead, and have to use the paper clip attach icon to navigate to the file to attach it.

Why? That’s a major step backwards in usability, IMO. Or did I miss some setting somewhere?

I just tried, but I don’t see the problem. What kind of files are you trying to attach? Is it a text file? Is it big?

Subject: can’t drag and drop files

I typically attach DOC, PPT, XLS, AI, JPG, etc. to emails by starting a new email and dragging from my desktop or a folder window.

For some reason, this no longer works. Is there something in my mail template that could prevent this? Our IT folks pushed a new template out recently (after upgrading the company to 8.5), and this change may be related to that instead of my updating to FP3.

EDIT - I’ve found that I can “copy” the file in the Finder, and paste it into the email… still can’t drag and drop, though.

This is the Mac Notes client (8.5.2FP3) running in Snow Leopard on a two-month-old MBP. I was using drag and drop just fine until just after updating to FP3, or when our mail template was updated - not sure exactly which was the trigger (if either).

Subject: Frustrating

This “bug” is very frustrating. I hope that Lotus adds this functionality back in the next dot release release. Otherwise, I will have to downgrade in order to get this functionality back. Every major email client allows drag and dropping of attachments in email messages except for Notes now.
