Mail item Drag and Drop is extremely sensitive, such that most attempts to “file” a message from Inbox to a different folder usually succeeds, but also switches the view to the target folder. Occasionally I get error messages about “drop” failures.
Sometimes either the wrong message is filed, or the right message is filed into the wrong folder. I suspect this is a byproduct of the mouse sensitivity picking up or targeting the wrong item.
Frequently, the same “move” of a mail item inadvertently also Moves folders - which creates a 10-20 second delay while Notes refreshes the updated view.
Resolution attempts:
I have noticed some other sensitive mouse behavior in other apps, but nothing like the consistently challenging experience within the Notes Client. Certainly it could be a Windows issue. To that end I have constantly applied all available patches, updated all Lenovo drivers and swapped various mice (problem exists for USB optical mouse, trackpoint and MS wireless presentation mouse). So far, software/hardware updates do not resolve the issue.
Initially, I assumed it was “user error” (25 years in IT have taught me to question the user). But after several months after trying to adjust my mouse behavior - I still run into this problem constantly (daily and repeatedly).
Not sure - but the problem seems to reduce somewhat after I reboot - and also to some degree when close/restart the Notes client. It’s as if the sensitivity increases over time.
Has anyone else experienced this behavior - and perhaps can suggest a remedy/alternate approach.
At the moment, I wish I could disable “drag and drop” for moving folders - but I cannot find any configuration for such. I can tolerate the shift of views, but the folder Move behavior is quite frustrating.
