Don't get compilation errors reported while saving code

Hello all,

We’re using Domino Designer client 8.5.1 and we never get compilation errors reported while saving code even when we have apparent errors in our code in script libraries and agents. Like “dim V as VariantXYZ”. When we make “Tools\Recompile All Lotusscript” we see the errors. As it could be guessed, it’s a very annoying situation…

We have looked at the Preferences, etc but couldn’t find a setting for this. Is there a way to overcome this situation? I saw in the forum that some other people has also suffered the same problem with 8.5 about a year ago. But it seems that the problem still continue with 8.5.1. I had heard some rumors about 8.5.1.1 release. Do you have any clue if this next release is supposed to fix this?

Regards,

İbrahim

Subject: I think Lotus is aware of this…

  • I had a PMR that was similar but I didn’t know where my error was. I’d copied it from a 6.5.4 database and done so incorrectly. It would build manually but not using Recompile All LotusScript, and it would never say more than “Syntax Error” when in fact the issue was not syntax related. It also said the error was at the Form level when it was really in a Script Library nested four levels below the Form.

  • When all was said and done, the guy working the PMR said “there are several SPRs” regarding compilation in LotusScript. If Lotus is aware enough to have SPRs on it, then it’s liable to be fixed sooner rather than later.

  • Sadly, however, I know of nothing to do about it now…
