Domino Wireless Communication AND Window Mobile Devices

I am currently looking for a software solution to provide communication from our Domino network 7.0.2 to Windows Mobile devices, SmartPhones, Treo, etc… I am doing initial research on vendors. I have found Good Technologies and CommonTime.

I am looking for a product solution that will be secure and easy setup on the device.

Please let if you are currently using a specific product and your thoughts.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

I recently went through the same process. Here are some links I collected:

blog on wireless Notes

Also, the company MartinScott has a good low-end product: MartinScott.com > Products > WirelessMail > Overview

I ended up going with CommonTime for my client. Very steep learning curve (probably true of all of these products), but it is working well now. If you don’t have a lot of background with this, consider getting some implementation assistance.

Hope that helps!

Stuart,

Thank you for the links. How does CommonTime work for your clients? Do they offer a disaster recovery solution?

Here’s a couple of comments on our experience with commontime:

  1. they really ‘get’ Notes. For example, our users are configured as Notes roaming users. mSuite (the commontime product) has an option for this and knows where to look for the personal address book and journal (roaming actually makes things quite easy for this since the files you need are already on the server and replication with the clients is automatic). If you want to extend Notes apps to the PDA, they can do it, too.

  2. We have Windows & Palm PDA’s. We’ve found mSuite on the Palm to be a little more difficult than on Windows devices.

  3. Commontime documentation needs improvement.

  4. It took a lot of work to get things setup. Now that they are, it’s been quite solid.

  5. I find the whole PDA support issue to be extremely difficult and time consuming. In this client’s case, many of the PDA users are at remote offices. Trying to talk a non-technical user through troubleshooting over the phone is frustrating for everyone. Understanding which options get set on the server and which are controlled or can be over-ridden with device settings is a challenge.

  6. Disaster recovery was not a factor in our selection. All the mail is on the mail server, so our focus is there.

Many mobile phones, windows mobile, Palm devices are (or will be) supported.
