Domino, Web Services, and DOJO

We are primarily an IBM shop, with our most important data store is DB2 on the iSeries. We do have other data stores - Lotus Notes, SQL server, etc.

Our presentation layer spans from green screen, to window client apps, to custom AJAX based web programming running on an Apache server on the iSeries.

Our IT Application manager is looking to consolidate a) data access methods and b) application presentation.

The thinking is that (shared) data will be primarily accessed via web services based on the iSeries. This gives us one methodology to serve up data that may reside in disparate systems.

For the presentation layer (non-green screen legacy), we are leaning toward using the Domino web server. We would be using DOJO as our primary toolkit for AJAX programming. We are currently on Domino Server 7.03 with plans to migrate to 8.x within the next year.

We have the following questions.

  1. What is the best way for Domino 7.0 to consume web services. Can Dojo help us with that?

  2. How well does Dojo integrate with Domino? I understand this is the direction IBM is moving in, so would this be a good idea.

  3. What resources exist to help us get up to speed on this technologies? We are open to customized training.

We are in the same boat except that we have an AS400 on the iSeries. We have been trying to come up with a solution to integrate our applications for the past year without having to spend an excess amount of money. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
