HI all,
I never understood what happens if I create a person document in the Domino Directory without actually registering the user (and thus without a user id file).
Will this be enough for users who have web access only?
Thanks
Ed

Subject: Domino users
Thanks for the replies. However, when you create a user without registering it, it will not contain any certificates. How will this affect internet security?
Also, can you create a user id for it later on?
Thanks
Ed
Subject: *It will work, but you do still have to buy a license for those users.
Subject: Domino users
yes, you can do that. Don’t ask me what happend with licencing, when you do it.

Subject: RE: Domino users
Domino is all about security…The public names.nsf contains users names and their public keys. The user.id contain the private key of a user.
When you log in with Notes on Domino you use your private key and the password just open the user.id but is generaly not send to the server.
When you log in with DWA you send your internet password to the server. It’s not as secure.
You can have 3 types of users and licences :
full Notes licence with full security (and user.ID)
DWA licence or web access to other base (no user.ID)
Anonymous user (no security) with just a licence for the server (for service provider)
