Our Domino mail server has started to stop seemingly at random with no sign of error. When we examine the server we just find the service has stopped and if started again it works fine. It seems to happen every few days - any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Same thing is happening here. Today it seems to be stopping about an hour after restarting the service.
I found a couple of postings regarding “\Domino\Cache”. The garbage collection service runs on an hourly interval. (not being used in R6 but causing problems)
I just disabled the setting and will post a response if it appears to fix the problem.

Disabling the “Garbage Collection” task did not do anything. When looking at the statrep.nsf file, it appears that the service is dying on "Collect"ing statistics for the domain, so late yesterday afternoon, I stopped the “Collect” task and the server has been running fine since then.

I have exactly the same problem with a domino 6.5 server on a windows xp professional machine.
After running fine for a couple of days, the service stops without putting anything in the notes log.nsf, only in the windows event viewer, you can see that the service has ended.
On other (older machines with Windows 2K which have been upgraded from R5.0.11 to R6.5) we have no problems at all

Your link has nothing to do with the Domino Service stopping with no error messages. I tried searching your postings regarding “service stops” but could find nothing.
