Hi,We have been using the Domino server 6.0.3 which needs to be upgraded to 6.5.4.We downloaded all patched required for this upgrade from IBM site.
Now, the problem is that ,we have been successfully able to upgrade it to 6.5.1, but when we try to run the patch for 6.5.2, it is throwing an errror that “Installer found incorrect version Release 6.5.1”. Also, when we refer to the log files, it shows that it is expecting some dlls which it could not found in patch…
Any help on this will be appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
Why don’t you download the full 6.5.4 download (actually, 6.5.6 is now available) and install that on top of the current installation? This is standard practice and is probably better than installing 4 or 5 incremental installations.

Thanks for your response…but…it is mention that these are all incremental patches… & needs to be installed one by one… i tried as you say, still it didn’t work… could you please let me know where I would get the full 6.5.4 download ?

If your company has a current maintenance agreement with IBM, there should be at least one primary contact who has access to the Passport Advantage program website. This is where you can download full installers.

we have got the installler for 6.5. and the remaining patches are available on the IBM site. & all these are incremental patches. What we learnt from IBM site is that we cannot directly install 6.5.4 over 6.5. This has to go through step by step. Is there any approach where we can direclty upgrade the server to 6.5.4, please let us know.

I did understand you pretty well. Also, I cannot tell you, why applying the incremental updates one by one doesn’t work for you. But I’d like to see a reference for this quote:
“What we learnt from IBM site is that we cannot directly install 6.5.4”
Incremental installers can not be used for updating any but the exactly previous version, that’s true. IBM has changed the packaging and availability of updates a couple of times during the last years. Right now, there are upgrade kits (say 6.5.x → 6.5.6) for client installations only, and incremental installers (say 6.5.1 → 6.5.2, 6.5.2 → 6.5.3, …) for clients and servers.
But nothing keeps you from using a full installer for say 6.5.6 to update e.g. a 6.5.1 installation.

Well, yes, that’s what I’m trying to tell you.
However, there is no direct path to the download. Simply enter Passport Advantage, click on Download Finder and enter “6.5.4 eAssembly” as description.
You can’t miss it.
Btw.: Any special reasons NOT to upgrade to the latest version 6.5.6? Looking at all the fixes, this sounds like a much smarter idea to me.

you’re right. we can upgrade the client from 6.5.x to 6.5.6 (latest). but for server upgradation, we have to go step by step… are you sure that we can directly able to upgrade the server to 6.5.4 once we get the patch for 6.5.4 from passport online.

As Ben had originally pointed out, that’s very much the standard procedure.
I have never upgraded from 6.5 to 6.5.4 (as far as I can remember), but I did the very same thing in the past with different server versions.
Even if it should go wrong - and no, I can not think of any specific reason why it should, you will certainly have your current backup available. Also have a look at Stephan Wissel’s recent take on this topic:
