I’m running Vista with an XP Virtual PC that I’ve installed a Domino Server on.
The domino server seems to work alright except I can’t get an http conenction to it, not even from itself!
I’ve tried opening a web browser and entering the servers name, 127.0.0.1, it’s IP address and it’s domain name, but no joy.
Don’t think I’ve missed anything on the installation.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

I assume HTTP is running? Have you checked the XP F/W on the virtual server (not the host Vista F/W).

Yes http task is running, tried restarting it etc.Have tried closing the firewall on both the Vista PC and the virtual PC.
Any known problems with domino servers on Virtual PC’s would have thought loads of sales types would be using this kind of set up?

Still having problems with getting a Domino Server running on Virtual PC. Think it might be to do with the Server Configuration now.
In the very first field “Server name” it had “servername/domainname”, I removed the domainname so it was just “servername” and for some reason now I can use the Virtual PCs IP address to navigate to the server via http. I don’t really understand why that made a difference, but it did.
Now I just need to get it to point the servername to the computers IP address. I could add an entry in the Virtual PCs host file, but thats not going to help my clients finding it.
The Main PC is in “Workgroup” and the Virtual PC is in the same workgroup “Workgroup” too. Think the key is going to be with “Fully qualified Internet host name:” and “Host Name” on the “Internet Protocols” tab, but changes that I’ve made haven’t made any difference so far.
When changing Domino Server host values, for them to take effect would I need to
-
Tell http restart
-
Restart Server
-
Reboot the Virtual PC
Thanks

Okay, so changing the computers name, right click My Computer and choosing properties, to the server name helps on the server for it finding itself using it’s name rather than IP Address!
Then openning up the firewall allows my computer to get to the http server on the virtual PC.
So basically, I didn’t name the PC correctly when installing.
