Domino Server Configuration for Newbie

We are looking for some direction in trying to configure a Domino server.

Any help or direction would be a great help.

We have it installed and are trying to use it with the Notes client as a database research tool that is replicating off of another source server on the internet.

Thanks in advance for your time.

You will get more help if you actually ask a question…

It helps if you are specific, telling us what you have done to solve your problem, etc.

You will get very little help if you want us to do it all and lead you through everything. So, that said, what have you done and what can’t you do that you would like to do?

cheers…

Fair enough.

I would have posted greater detail had I known what was done already. I was attempting to post for a another person who is actually attempting this project.

I have asked her to provide greater detail. She will be posting shortly.

With that said, however, I was wondering, with out much detail for me to provide, if there are any good books on configuring of Domino server? I purchased one book: Domino System Administration, but it doesn’t really provide the in depth detail that we are looking for.

Are there any books available that would provide all options and details about configuration? Are there any Domino Server manuals that you might recommend? If so I would gladly review those.

Subject: Agreed - or…

…contact a local IBM Lotus Business Partner.

Fair enough.

I do appreciate you taking the time as I know we all have other things to do.

I would have posted but I don’t know the details as I was attempting to post for another person who is responsible for this project.

I have asked her to post more information.

With that said, however, are there any books that one might recommend? We have purchased the O’Reilly “Domino Server Administration” but it doesn’t provide much detail regarding the available options and final configuration.

Is there another publication you might recommend that does provide greater detail? Are there any product installation manuals availabe that would be of any help?

Thanks again.

There is actually a lot of very good information

<=========== over there

in the Documentation library including downloadable “Yellowbook” files. You can purchase hardcopy from Lotus/IBM and you end up with about 3 shelf feet of everything you ever wanted to know about Domino/Notes.

There is also a Domino admin book from New Riders publishing that I used in the beginning throes of my Notes addiction. I can’t find it here at home and I have forgotten the name… must be at work. This book was especially helpful enabling me to gain an understanding of the Domino/Notes paradigm.

There may also be some IBM redbooks which might be helpful. Check out that website.

And, of course, the LDD Today articles and their archives contain some great material.

You could also try searching both this forum and the R5 forum using books as a key word. Other’s have asked the same question and I remember seeing a couple of threads with book suggestions.

cheers…
