Domino Server 6.0.1 Trial Linux: Installation fails - missing lotusini.tpl?

Dear All,

I’m trying to install the linux trial version on a SuSE 8.2 PC according to redbook. But the installation dies at a certain point. The same exeption on two different machines with SuSE 8.2.

This is what get when it stops:

The OS appears to have the correct patches .

Installing Domino Server kits except template files …

An unexpected error occured during post-install processing:

Died at /tmp/lotus/linux/tools/lib/NIC.pm line 2100.

/tmp/lotus/linux/tools/lib/NIC.pm line 3028

The installation failed for the local host.

Same error on both machines. The file NIC.pm seems to look for a file named lotusini.tpl wich is apparently not existing.

No Lotus software has been installed before.

I’m installing from within /tmp directory using default settings (except this try I took the error message from → without templates). /opt/lotus is owned by root:root and /local/notesdata by notes:notes.

Any hint?

Greetings from Berlin, Germany

Ulrich

Subject: Domino Server 6.0.1 Trial Linux: Installation fails - missing lotusini.tpl?

Dear Ulrich,

after a I downloaded the tar-file again it worked! Than I found out that the extracted linux directory from the first download had only 116083 KB (which is of course by far less than the original tra-file - I know now). Quite strange that extracting went on without errors. Twice. So its not the first thing to check if the installation routine fails.

Anyway, I just write this (even the answer to my question is almost too simple to post) to help others having same problems somehow.

bye and say hello to Ulrich

Ulrich

this is what I get within the correct extracted linux-directory:

…/linux # du -s .
