Domino Router slowness

We currently have an issue with the router slowing down when users send SMTP mail that contains tables from word documents.

The emails in question are generally sent to 100+ people external on the internet but are only around 30kb in size. It can take the router 45+ mins to process these messages and in the mean time all the other messages are being queued behind them.

At first I thought it was the mail.box databases corrupting but have found it to be when these emails are basically authoured in Word and then pasted into notes.

I would appreciated any ideas people have besides telling the people not to do it but I have done this many a time.

Cheers

Jason

It is recommended to have atleast 2 Mailbox instead of One default.Secondly compact your mail.box db & run fixup,

it sometimes takes long to send SMTP messages if more number of hopes are involved in transfer, send a test mail using same attachments with @[IP] instead of domain name to check whether is it a DNS issue,

I currently have 2 but have previously had 4 mailboxes. I have copied and pasted these emails into brand new mailboxes after deleting previous ones and it still happens even if they are the only ones in the queue. If they send a similar email authored in notes and not word there is no problem.

Our mail server distributes around 35,000 emails a day and it is only word authored emails that cause problems.
