Domino Problems

Our Domino server has been having issues lately. The computer itself runs just fine. We have a Dual Xeon Dell that runs the domino email server, and backups. There are about 80 users.

The last few weeks, domino has been acting very inconsistent. It seems that after domino is running too long, something happens, where it trips up, and stops working. People can’t get their email DB’s.

Normally it happens overnight, because I get a call in the morning saying email is down, then I just have to log in and reboot domino, and everything works fine. Now when I reboot domino, the first thing it does is send out the hundreds of emails it hasn’t sent out since it crashed. Also I see an error on the console saying the Log.nsf database is corrupt and cannot write to it. But once I reboot domino, log.nsf is not corrupt anymore and everything runs just fine.

I’ve resorted to rebooting domino every night lat at night, just so it does work the next morning.

We recently installed Antigen Antivirus onto our domino server and I was wondering if that had anything to do with it.

Has anyone come across a similar problem? I’de be happy send you my log.nsf if you think it might help.

EDIT**

While looking around on the computer, I find that in the c:\winnt\temp folder, there are a ton of files, some including install.exe, and all kinds of .ini and .inf files. Is this a normal notes folder? because the antivirus picked up quite a few different viruses in this folder

Thanks

I don’t have any experience with Antigen, but I have seen tons of postings about viruscanners hanging Domino servers. We had all kinds of trouble with GroupShield a while back. Typically the answer is to make sure you have the latest version of the virusscan.
