I want to run Domino 6.x on Redhat but I am comcerned about Redhat’s lack of ongoing support for it now. Is anyone else taking on the job of supporting Redhat’s releases that are approved for Domino? Or should I go with another Linux distribution?

I am able to get 100% of domino’s functionality from Red hat 7.3. If you look for my linux posts I shared what kernel I am using an other important facts.
It is true the free RH distro is not supported, but I am not the only administrator running domino on this distro (so there is confidence with particular users of this forum).
By the way I am making a post which is of my own and not of IBM.

Thanks for all responses, but what I am wondering is how will RH versions 7.x, 8.x and 9.x be updated - kernel, programs, etc. since RH doesn’t support it any longer? How will I get security notices, patches, etc? I was running 7.3 and I got Domino running on it but I abandoned it after RH dropped supporting it. I will gladly re-install RH and Domino if I can be assured of kernel updates (at the very least security updates). Thanks again for the responses.

What problem will you have if there is a firewall configured on the box. If it closes the vunulerable ports then you should have a safe feeling.
I have the 7.3 version of RH and I have not gotten any updates. To me it is no different than people running domino the NT 4.0 server. We see a number of posts with people doing this-- so why are treating Linux different?
If your domino server is connect to the internet without a firewall installed then I can understand people not being comfortable. But the firewall should protect you. There never a security flaw or vulunerablity based on port 1352 or a notes specific port.
Lastly as to the kernel updates … you should be testing a new kernel with the software installed on the server prior to any upgrading. I wouldn’t upgrade the kernel if it is going to cause problems to a particular application – especially if it is production.

That’s really my problem too. I’m happily running ND6.5 on RH8, will probably attempt to upgrade to ND651 if time allows it, but I’d like to be able to update RH with the latest patches etc too.
Any experiences with http://www.autorpm.org/, or other update sites?

Why not upgrade to RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux)? This is supported, although not quite as free as the original.
