Domino on Linux 5.3 - Server Crash

Hi

We have two servers on a VMWare Platform (VSphere) and each server is running Red Hat Linux 5.3 Enterprise.

These servers are Clustered and running Domino 8.5 alongside DUCS 1.2.5.

On the failover server (where there are no users running) Domino keeps crashing on a regular basis:

Fault Recovery Notification: Server XXX restarted after a fault on 04.12.2009 16:46:36

We edited the notes.ini file and removed the csumhlr task as IBM said it was definitely the DUCS task causing the crash. This resolved the problem and the server stopped crashing. However, this task is needed for DUCS so we had to re-enable it.

IBM then changed their minds and said they don’t think its relating to that task after all (even though it stopped the crash) and believe it may be to do with Linux O/S (file permissions or something along those lines) but can’t be sure.

Has anyone come across this before? We have built another 2 servers and have exactly the same issue on the failover server!!

Subject: We’re having the same problem

It seems to be some interaction between clustering and DUCS that causes it. If you allow the servers to replicate but not cluster them it stops the crashing too. We were thinking that reverting to the older style of cluster replication instead of the Notes 8 streaming replication might make a difference. We’d be very keen to know if you’ve got further with this.
