Domino IMAP Server - High Memory Usage & Limiting number of IMAP connections per user

We have a Domino server providing both NRPC and IMAP access to users, IMAP access being provided to technical users who prefer to use their own IMAP client.

However the server is having performance issues related to the IMAP service, primarily due to memory usage. Are there any known issues (ie. memory leaks) with the IMAP service? Are there any fixes/workarounds? Have later versions fixed it?

Secondly, some of the IMAP clients appear to open up numerous connections - when a well-behaved IMAP client is supposed to use only one connection to perform all its operations. Is there a method of restricting the number of connections per user or per IP\machine?

Subject: Domino IMAP Server - High Memory Usage & Limiting number of IMAP connections per user

Hi Adam,

Sorry I cannot answer your question at all, but merely ADD TO SAY THIS IS ALSO A PROBLEM FOR US.

We are running Domino 7.02 on a dual Xeon 2GB RAM. moderate to low usage all day every day.

We have ONE USER connecting via IMAP.

IMAP is around 850MB

How absolutely ridiculous is that?

Any responses, replies to help fix would be much appreciated

At the moment, we’re having to issue a quit command and load command at hours of the night to get it down.

It takes less than an hour to peak, every time
