"Domino Directory does not contain a required view"

I downloaded the trial version (english) of the Client.I installed it in another directory than my current one; everything went fine.

At start of the client, after I have entered my password (always twice by the way!?),

I get a message window “Domino Directory does not contain a required view”.

When I click “OK” the program is finished.

Which directory may be meant?

Is it on the client or on the server?

Btw, we are running on a 4.51 server - german version.

Can I use the version 6 client with this at all? I had tried it with a version 5 one

several months ago; worked fine.

I have exactly the same error trying to connect a 6.0.1 client to a 4.6.3 Domino Server, including entering the password twice. When I run the 6.0.1 with debug turned on I get the extended error “The requested function is not supported by the software on this server”. Below I have included the complete debug output. I have determined a work around that has been confirmed by Lotus. First configure the 6 client so that it is not connected to a domino server, switch to your ID file that connects to your Notes Domain and then manually create a connection and location document. You will now be able to connect to your 4.x Server.
