no one had any input on my earlier post?

Hi
I have a domino smtp gateway which sends mails to another domino server backend…Notes routing - and a connection document enabled.
When a users receives a mail from the outside…and replies to it…@gatewaydomain gets added… and you have to delete that first…to reply…
I have tried foreing domain documents…adjacent domain document…nothing helps… - the router just adds the field FromDomain field to the mail…and therefor this happens…
I will not use smtp routing…it should work with notes routing from domino gateway with antoher domain name than the backend domino domain…without having the extra domain name added to the mail?
have also tried this:
Notes items to be removed from headers…did not help
and ideas?..thanks
Subject: I am doing the same at some customer, works fine.for them. (no other domain added)
but how do you exepect one of us to know what you did different?
Finding the thing:
I would start sending a test mail to the web from the gateway domain to see if it happens there, too (so it would not be a problem of two domains, just of the gateway domain). And I would actually reply the mails to make sure, that all addresses look fine when you click on replay at the returned mail again…
Second would be to check if this is just some or all users, just when sending from disconnected or not etc etc. Get a machine for yourself where you have time to reproduce and figure out things.
My guess is that your problem is either in server configuration documents or in global domain documents.
And setting the right sending address in the location document might help, too. (as for the right internet address in the Person documents in the servers names.nsf). Broken view indexes in names.nsf on a server might be causes too.
And this installation of my customer has the address book of the internal domain available via Directory assistance at the server of the gateway domain.
I hope this helps, let us know how where you end.

Thanks for your reply
Yep - have testet it all.
It is for all users
and there is no problem when sending from the gateway server and to the outside - or when sending from the gateway server and to the inside.
it only happens when going thru the gateway from the outside and to the inside
I saw the technote and you could also create an agent wich removes the fromdomain field manually…but if you have many users it would not be optimal.
I have read that notes intentially set this fromdomain field when it has to send mail further…so nohing to do besides do some code yourself?
how did you do the setup at your end?
Subject: Hm, not an easy one to answer…
What I had to do, was to take a bunch of different servers (worldwide) out of a installation of several hundred servers, because the company was split.I actually moved all of those servers to their own domino domain (actully even a seperate one for each of this servers), splitted the information in all the domino directories, added notes mail routing inbetween these servers, removed the need for a hub, as it was decided to not any longer have one … added a new internet domain, added a temporary server to allow to seperate old mail adresses answered to ‘my’ part of the old company and to those remaining at the big end of the company and things alike.
=> Quite an interesting project, but not exactly one where to derive how to do what you need starting from a green field. For your case, the next thing I would tend to do, is too look at the global domain documents (both the gateway domain and the main domain). Especially in the area on what to do about the Domino Domain Names.
IF you don’t want to change too much in the production domain, it might be a good idea to add another test server in it’s own domain, nstall a blank new client on this server, and figgure out things there.
Good luck!
