Domino applications, Exchange email

We’re in the process of being bought by Great Big Multinational GmbH, and the word has come down from on high that we can continue to use Notes/Domino for applications, but we must migrate to Outlook/Exchange for email quickly. It’s been firmly established that there’s no getting out of this, so I’m looking for pointers on how to get them to coexist. The two big issues I’m looking at (there are other issues of course, but other people are dealing with those) are security and making sure doclinks still work. So I’m looking for war stories and advice:

  1. What can we/must we do to keep security working for our databases? Will we have to, for example, manually maintain users and groups separately in Domino?

  2. How well, if at all, do Exchange connectors work in maintaining doclinks? Has anyone used CoexLinks from Midas?

For what it worth, and in a simple view:1) If all mail is going to Exchange, then you will need to maintain 2 seperate systems. Either move your apps to the web, or keep the Notes client. That is up to the business.

  1. If you move your apps to the web, send a link instead of a DocLink. That is as simple as it gets.

HTH.
