Domino 8 Trial License Error

Hi,

Our department has been running Domino 7 for the last 4 years and we are ready to switch to 8.5.2, so I downloaded the Domino trial version (C1SC3EN.exe) to test.

I thought I would install it on the same server which I used to first test our version 7 Domino server. That server had not been used for the last 2 years, so I booted it up and uninstalled Domino 7, rebooted it and installed the Domino 8 trial on it. I rebooted and the Domino server didn’t start. Instead, it presented me with a Domino server error: “An error occurred during license use management initialization. Ensure that you are running Domino with a valid license file.”

I didn’t know what to do, so I searched the Web for this type of error and I came across an IBM web site stating to reinstall Domino, which I did, and rebooted and still had the same error message. I searched the net again to find another post which mentioned it had something to do with the clock. I looked at the clock on that server and found that it was dated 2003. We hadn’t used that portable server for at least 2 years, so the battery must have gone dead. So I reset the clock, uninstalled the Domino 8 trial and rebooted. I went into the registry and deleted any reference I could find to either Notes or Domino and rebooted. I reinstalled the Domino 8 trial and rebboted, but the same problem reappears with the same error message.

I searched the net again and found another IBM forum stating to look for a file named domino8.lic in the data directory. I don’t have a file by that name in that directory.

This is where I am right now.

I would appreciate all the help I can get to get this trial Domino going.

I get the same problem and I think it’s because the trial download has expired - I found that back dating the clock to prior to Dec/31/2010 that you don’t get the error…

Hi,

same problem on my site.

Looks like the Trial is TimeBombed. You can use this version until 31.12.2010.

Try to set the server date to 01.12.2010 and it will work fine.

Unfortunately IBM Support Hotline is not able to help… :frowning:
