Domino 8.5 on Fedora 11?

I know this probably isn’t a “supported” configuration, but I was able to run Domino 8.0.1 on Fedora 10 successfully…

Has anyone tried to run Domino 8.5 on Fedora 11?

I built a new Fedora 11 system and updated it with “yum” to bring it current.

I just tried to install Domino 8.5. The installation process ran fine, but when I logged in as the Domino user, and started the server to configure it, I got the following messages:

bash-4.0$ /opt/ibm/lotus/bin/server

NSD is in progress …

Please attach the following files to your bug report along with the server log:

The NSD file with some debugging information was created as indicated in the message.

Does anyone have any idea about what is going on here?

I may try to restore my 8.0 installation and see if it will run On Fedora 11.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated…

Subject: Resolution

I think I finally figured this one out.

I was able to successfully install Domino 8.5 on two other machines. I think the issue is that the machine I was going to use for the server had an old 900 MHz AMD Duron CPU. I wonder if Domino is compiled to use instructions not supported on that processor…

I have swapped the hardware out for a machine with an AMD Sempron. Domino 8.5 comes up fine on a new Fedora 11 installation on that box.

I did install the pre-requisite libraries as per the release notes.

Now to migrate my Internet users and Discussion databases…

Subject: Latest Fedora 10 doesn’t work either

I just tried re-installing Fedora 10 with all updates, and rolling back to my 8.0.1 files. Those also fail with a similar “Fatal Error” message.

I see from another thread that there was a similar problem with Notes 8.5–that worked with the base install, but not with the latest updates. I’ll try that next.

In the meantime, any suggestions will still be appreciated!
