Is there any documentation available that gives info on what new features are going to be available in Domino 8.5?

Notes and Domino documentation for the 8.5 beta will go live near the end of the month at this infocenter URL > http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/domhelp/v8r0/index.jsp. The release notes for the 8.5 beta will also contain what’s new info and will be reachable via that URL. There are other forums too, this is just one known URL to look for.
