Domino 8.0.1 x64 on Windows Server 2008 Standard x64

I tried to install Domino 8.0.1 x64 on a new install of Windows Server 2008 Standard x64. The install process itself went fine, but upon starting the server the following appears in the console:

“Error writing to process file pid.nbf, (other applications may be inappropriately accessing this file)”

The console window closes and a dialog pops up:

“NOTES.INI may be damaged or read-only. Non-zero values for ‘ServerSetup’ and ‘KitType’ were not found.”

NOTES.INI appears fine and it not read only.

I also tried to install Domino 8.0.1 x32 on the same server with no luck. This time, I don’t get the console window - just two dialogs:

“SetSystemFileCacheSize failed with error 5: Access is denied.”

Then…

“NOTES.INI may be damaged or read-only. Non-zero values for ‘ServerSetup’ and ‘KitType’ were not found.”

Is anyone successfully running Domino 8.0.1 (x32 or x64) on Windows Server 2008 Standard x64? If so, did you have similar problems and solve them?

Is 8.0.1 x32 or x64 officially supported on Windows Server 2008 at this time? If not, do we know when support is going official?

Thanks much!

Did you install Domino under “Program Files”? I think that there are write restrictions under that directory in Win2008. You may try installing to C:\Domino or something like that to see if that helps resolve the notes.ini issues. May help the others too.

I did try installing to C:\Domino as well as into C:\Program Files - same result.

I believe the UAC in Server 2008 may be involved. I have to experiment some more.

Currently windows 2k8 is not supported running domino 8 although a flavor of 8.5.x might be the next domino candidate that would be supported on that version. At the current time there is no eta on what version will be supported on windows 2k8.
