I have set up SMTP according to all the instructions. Global domain, Foreign SMTP, SMTP connection, Relay host in Configuration document. Server has a DSL connection (ISP) with DSL router to a different ISP which hosts the domain mail. This server (not Domino) requires authentication.
Outbound mail will go most of the time, then an error and delivery failure is generated.
03/11/2003 12:09:58 PM Router: [00000006] Transferring mail to domain MAIL.MICRODEVELOPMENT.COM (host MAIL.MICRODEVELOPMENT.COM [217.114.161.44]) via SMTP
03/11/2003 12:10:01 PM Router: Transferred 1 messages to MAIL.MICRODEVELOPMENT.COM (host MAIL.MICRODEVELOPMENT.COM) via SMTP
03/11/2003 12:10:03 PM Router: Message 006A62C4 NOT transferred via SMTP to MAIL.MICRODEVELOPMENT.COM for xxx.com from Nicola Quinn/MicroD Size: 2K 550 nquinn@microdevelopment.com must check for new mail first
03/11/2003 12:10:06 PM Router: Message 006EC8F0, 006A62C4 delivered to Nicola Quinn/MicroD from Nicola Quinn/MicroD Size: 3K Time: 00:00:01 Hop Count: 2
If I use a client (with account documents etc) to send and receive and then resend from the server it goes.
I suspect it has to do with the authentication required on the mail server but I cannot find anywhere to set this for the server.
I don’t want to use a Network Dialup as this ties up the modem.
Many thanks for any help.
Nicola
